JUNIFY
What is Junify?
The Junify app is a platform for companies to deploy various features/resources such as Focus, ZSO (zero sign on), SaaS integration, and identity management in a secure and efficient manner. We consider this a Cloud Access Security Platform, or CASP, which is distinct from traditional CASB models (see FAQ question below).
What is the difference between CASB and CASP?
Cloud Access Security Brokers (CASB) focus on developing tools and features that monitor all cloud usage inside the company. This is similar to watching what people do in a building, but not worrying as much about access controls. ACloud Access Security Platform (CASP) focuses more on controlling access and then making it easier and more efficient for authorized users to access and utilize cloud resources.
How secure is Junify
Junify utilizes Heroku (a Salesforce company) to host its application servers.
You can read more on Heroku’s security and compliance at
https://www.heroku.com/policy/security.
The zero sign-on feature of Junify requires that customer username and passwords are saved by Junify. These are stored on our servers in an encrypted state and only released when they are passed through when you login to one of your SaaS services.
USING JUNIFY
Can I use Junify for free?
Junify is a paid service, but we offer a 30 day trial period for you to experience the benefits before paying. The Focus feature is not part of the free trial period.
How do I try Junify?
To open an account for your company/organization, start by downloading the Junify app from the App Store or Play Store. The sign up process is similar to most current apps.
Can I use Junify on Windows Mobile? What about tablets?
We currently support iOS and Android only for mobile phones only, though you can use Junify on Chrome once you have an account.
What if I don’t have a smart phone? What if I forgot it?
Junify turns a mobile smart phone into a key for your company’s cloud resources. Without a smart phone you will not be able to use Junify and its security features. If you forget your smart phone, it will be like forgetting a physical key. Someone who has access to the resource you want could let you in, but without that, you’ll need to find your phone or reissue the credentials to anew phone.
FOCUS FEATURE
What is Focus?
Focus is a feature that can be installed on the Junify platform. It is optional, but when enabled, it will allow employers to receive data on how much their users are using their mobile phones during working hours.
What makes Focus valuable?
Using Focus can reduce cell phone usage at work by as much as 80%, which increases productivity and the bottom line. As an example, a construction worker uses their mobile phone on average for 38 hours a month. At $50/hour fully loaded, that is $1,900 of lost productivity a month. By reducing that by 80%, a company can gain $1,520 per month per employee.
What data does the Focus feature “share”?
When the Focus feature is “on”, usage data by app is shared with Junify in “odometer” fashion (meaning only a counter, no personal information such as text or voice). Junify aggregates this information and shares it with employers inthree buckets, social media, entertainment, and other. As an example, if a user or employee is on Facebook for 5 minutes, the employer would see 5 minutes onsocial media. No other data about the app, what was said, or done is provided
When is data sent with the Focus feature?
Phone app usage data is only sent to Junify when the user or employee turns their working switch “on”. When it is off, absolutely no data is sent. In this way, the user or employee is in full control of data sharing. It is also fair in that when an employee is working they should not be on their phones and when they are not working the employer should not care if they are on their phones.
What if I have an app that I want employees to use, but not count against their time in Focus?
Focus enables you to whitelist certain apps. Often, companies whitelist music apps such as Pandora or Spotify. In this way, when users listen to those apps, notime is accrued in Focus.
Does Focus use a lot of cell data?
The amount of data Focus uses varies per day, but on average uses a small amount equal to about 15 seconds of HD video streaming per day.
What do employees get for using Focus?
As part of the Focus program, end users (employees) receive $25 per month. That amount comes out of the per user monthly payment from you to Junify. Junify will execute that stipend payment to your users for you.
How do employees feel about Focus?
Aside from the obvious appreciation for the $25 per month, employees are oftenhappy that Focus bring a fairness to the workplace. Employees usually know which of them are high phone time users, but don’t want to say anything. As phone usage goes down, those employees’ job satisfaction usually goes up. Of course, those that tend to be high users often don’t like Focus for the same reason.
